RS Venture
calcActive())">
At Proasail.com we recommend the RS Venture to sailing schools, families and training programmes that need a big, very stable sailing dinghy with international awards to its name. It was designed by Phil Morrison and RS Sailing. It is 4.9 m long and its self-draining cockpit takes up to 8 crew. It accepts a gennaker and an outboard, so it serves just as well for beginners as for training or day trips.

Versatile
- A sailing-school boat designed for sailing in a group, with very high stability.
- A boat for weekend getaways with family or friends.
- It can stay on a mooring buoy.
- Safety under way without giving up rewarding performance.
- Option to fit an outboard, which adds versatility.
- Choice of spinnaker: symmetric or asymmetric (gennaker), both optional.
Spacious
- Up to 640 kg of crew aboard.
- With the mast set well forward and an optional removable centre thwart, the cockpit is uncluttered and adapts to each use.
- With the gnav mounted above the boom, the crew has more room and sails more safely.
- Comfort and room to spare for family cruising.
Stability and Safety
- A hull of exceptional stability.
- Low freeboard: righting the boat takes less effort and the manoeuvre is safer.
- The cockpit drains itself.
- Foam inside the mast and an optional masthead float, to reduce the risk of inversion after a capsize.
- Righting lines.
- As an option, a weighted centreboard (60 kg of steel) that adds even more stability.
Stowage
- Stowage space under the side seats and under the foredeck; the aft locker is factory fitted as an option.
Robust
- GRP (glass-reinforced polyester) sandwich hull, built to last.
- Heavyweight glass fibre laminate over a 3 mm Coremat core, finished with a double gelcoat layer: that is how it stands up to the heavy use of a sailing school.
- Rubber gunwale guard around the boat, optional and factory fitted.
- Optional aluminium keel bands, which protect the underside of the hull when landing. Maintenance is kept to a minimum.
Sail and rig configuration options
- 11 m² mainsail in Dacron (standard, with reefing system) or Mylar (optional).
- 3.8 m² Dacron jib with furler as standard.
- 14 m² gennaker (asymmetric spinnaker), optional.
- Trapeze kit, optional.
