For anyone after a comfortable, stable daysailer with real performance, at Proasail.com we recommend the RS Aira 22. Coasting, hopping between the islands of a lake or heading up an estuary: on any of these outings the whole family sits in a roomy cockpit with padded cushions. Versatile
- Sitting in comfort and enjoying good sailing performance are not mutually exclusive on the RS Aira
- Up to 6 adults in a big cockpit that drains itself
- Family outings, beginners at the sailing school or club racing: all three uses suit it
- No need to take it out of the water: it can stay on a mooring buoy
- Stable under way, without compromising performance
- Retractable TEMO Pod Drive 1000 electric motor (one 2.3 kW battery) or Pod Drive 3000 (two batteries), optional
- With the optional 28 m² furling asymmetric gennaker, the RS Aira gets up on the plane and adds speed offwind
Comfort
- Room for the whole family to spend the day aboard without being cramped
- The cockpit edge is rounded along the walkway, and the mast is set well forward
- High boom: less sail in front of your eyes and a better view to leeward
- Padded backrest and seat: the cushions rest on benches that fit them well
- If the outing includes lunch aboard, the optional swivelling cockpit table turns the cockpit into a dining room, at sunset too
- Whatever is not needed while sailing goes in the cabin, which helps keep the cockpit clear; the cushions also fit inside for an overnight stay
- Towels, clothes or food stay safe from the water in two deep lockers built into the cockpit sides
Simple rig control
- Square-top mainsail profile, as you would expect from a modern rig
- The mainsail is fully battened from luff to leech, RS Sailing's choice with performance and sail durability in mind
- To shorten sail, the mainsail carries two reefs with the Selden single-line system
- An 8 m² jib that is handled without difficulty
Sail configuration
- Dacron mainsail
- 8 m² jib, standard
- Asymmetric gennaker with extending bowsprit, optional
