RS 700
calcActive())">
At Proasail.com we suggest the RS 700 to the racer who wants a top-level single-handed skiff: trapeze, asymmetric spinnaker and carbon composite mast in a sailing dinghy made for racing. Its performance equalisation system, with adjustable-width racks and corrector weights, evens out the chances of sailors of different weights: the light racer can win just as well as the heavy one.
RS Sailing has refined the boat's systems so that it is manageable and competitive on the
RS racing circuits. It is not a boat for everyone: it calls for the right attitude. Even so, the class has a loyal following, and the reasons are plain to see.

Hull
- Moderate hull shape, with little tendency to nosedive
- Flared topsides that add reserve stability
- Epoxy sandwich hull, RS Sailing's proven construction system: very light, virtually no water absorption and a long competitive life
- The spinnaker chute sits as far aft as possible: the weight stays aft and the sail well clear of the water
- Handling from the cockpit: the helm never has to leave a secure helming position, whether to start a manoeuvre or to hoist or drop the asymmetric, a crucial part of the design in making the boat easy to sail
- Hoisting and dropping the asymmetric is simple thanks to the wide chute mouth and the halyard pump system
Rig
- A carbon composite mast keeps the rig very light, with a tip that responds dynamically to gusts
- More power and more efficiency thanks to an especially long mainsail luff
- A single full-length batten, the top one, and three short battens: a soft configuration that makes the rig light and easy to control
- The Mylar mainsail combines strength, low stretch and good visibility through the sail
- The mast rake system and the mainsail flattener depower the rig in strong winds and make the boat more controllable
- High-aspect asymmetric spinnaker: low sheet loads and good visibility. Its silicone-coated cloth eases hoists and drops through the chute and extends the sail's life
- Where the RS 700 really shines is offwind: its performance there is what makes this skiff so special
Foils
- In strong winds, with the rig depowered, the fore-and-aft rake of the daggerboard can be adjusted to rebalance the boat
- Daggerboard and lifting rudder blade, which makes launching and recovering the boat easier
- Foam and GRP (glass-reinforced polyester) sandwich foils: a sophisticated construction that makes them strong and light at once, as befits a racing skiff
Equalised racing
- Adjustable-width racks and corrector weights even out performance between sailors of different weights: the winner can be big or small
