RS Toura

Between the RS Quest and the RS Venture in the RS range there is a gap, and the RS Toura fills it: a 4.63 m sailing dinghy that takes up to 7 crew. At Proasail.com we recommend it to sailing schools and families who want the freedom to go sailing without worrying about the hull: it is rotomoulded polyethylene and built to last. Designed by RS Sailing and Jo Richards, it pairs a very roomy interior with the stability that lets the crew explore coastal waters with peace of mind.

Versatile

  • Seven adults fit in its cockpit, which is also self-draining.
  • Designed for weekends afloat: family, friends and a day's sailing.
  • It can be left on a mooring buoy.
  • As safe as it is rewarding to sail.
  • Optional outboard bracket, which adds versatility.
  • Asymmetric spinnaker (gennaker), optional.
  • An award-winning design: named "Sailing World Dinghy of the Year 2024" (USA).
  • Hull rotomoulded in three-layer RS Comptec PE3 polyethylene.

Spacious

  • Takes a large crew: up to 550 kg.
  • With the mast set well forward and a fixed centre thwart, the cockpit is huge and can be organised flexibly.
  • Wide side seats plus the centre thwart.
  • Room and comfort for cruising with the family.

Easy-to-use foils

  • GRP pivoting centreboard.
  • The aluminium rudder blade is built for heavy use.
  • Rudder with Lift & Lock system operated from the tiller: the blade locks both up and down.

Stability and safety

  • Exceptional hull stability.
  • The freeboard is low, so climbing aboard from the water takes less effort and recovery after a capsize is safer.
  • Self-draining cockpit.
  • To reduce the risk of inversion after a capsize: foam inside the mast and, as an option, a masthead float.
  • Helm and crew have grab handles moulded into the hull, so getting back aboard after a capsize is easier.

Easy rig control

  • Furling jib: launching and recovery are safer and more comfortable.
  • Reefing mainsail, to shorten sail when the wind gets up.
  • Aluminium alloy mast.
  • With the halyards and boom controls run externally, they stay in view and are easier to maintain.
  • The sails are cut in Dacron, a cloth designed to withstand many hours of use.

Sail plan configuration

  • Dacron mainsail (10.4 m²).
  • Furling Dacron jib (3.5 m²), standard.
  • 14.6 m² gennaker, optional.

Optional equipment

  • Gennaker (asymmetric spinnaker).
  • Masthead float (zeppelin type).
  • Breathable top cover.
  • Launching trolley.
  • Road trailer.
